Contexte announces the appointment of Anca Gurzu as EU Managing Editor. In this role, she will lead the launch of Contexte’s second vertical, fully dedicated to European public policy and published in English...
Scheduled for release this winter, the new vertical will provide in-depth analysis of the European public affairs ecosystem. Anca will oversee and coordinate the work of her new team, currently being recruited, in close collaboration with the two journalists already based in Brussels and covering these issues for Contexte’s FR Edition.
“Anca’s appointment is a decisive step in Contexte’s European expansion,” said Jean-Sébastien Lefebvre, Editor-in-Chief in Brussels. “Her deep knowledge of EU politics and her ability to cut through complexity will be invaluable as we launch our second English-language vertical and for the newsroom as the whole. Our goal is clear: to go beyond the headlines and deliver the insight that public affairs professionals across Europe truly need.”
For over 12 years, Anca has been covering the ins and outs of EU politics and policy in Brussels. During this time, she has not only learned the intricacies of the EU machinery, but also how to identify and translate seemingly technical issues into big-stakes stories with Europe-wide and international implications. Before joining Contexte, she has held senior reporting roles at Cipher News and POLITICO Europe, and previously completed a journalism fellowship at the University of Chicago. Anca holds a Master’s degree in European, Russian and Eurasian studies from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the same university.
